SPORT & OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES (EXTENDED DIPLOMA)
(Equivalent to 3 A-levels)

Entry Requirements: Minimum 5 GCSEs at Grade 9-5. English Language at Grade 5 is preferable. You will need to have an interest in sport or water sports.
Course Content: This course combines the BTEC Sport programme with practical activities, work experience and employer valued, professional National Governing Body (NGB) instructor qualifications. The academic content allows you to gain understanding and experience of working and operating in outdoor centres and the adventure industry. Some of the units you will study will be Careers in Sport and Adventure, Self Employment, Events Management, Tourism, Health and Wellbeing, Expeditions Experience and Coaching.
Linked with Lagoon Watersports you will also learn a range of outdoor adventure disciplines which are not confined to the classroom and you are given the opportunity to gain both personal and instructor based qualifications in a number of watersports including powerboat, first aid, dinghy sailing, windsurfing, and safeguarding and qualifications in land based activities such as rock climbing and mountain biking.
The course is 100% coursework. You will need to have good organisational skills, especially regarding acting on feedback and meeting deadlines.
Future Prospects: This course is a stepping stone to higher education, degree and professional development programmes such as apprenticeships as well as employment. The additional instructor qualifications will allow you to work all over the world as soon as you leave college.
