Digital Systems and Data is a new applied Level 3 qualification designed to develop students' understanding of how digital systems, data and technology are used to solve real-world problems. You will learn how digital systems work and how they can be configured, managed and tested. You will also develop practical skills in working with data, including preparing, analysing and communicating data to support decision-making. The course covers areas such as digital systems, hardware and software, networks and storage, user accounts and access controls, cyber security, data quality and analysis, system configuration and testing, programming logic and the design of digital solutions. You will apply your knowledge to realistic contexts, developing your ability to investigate problems, analyse information, make decisions and create appropriate digital solutions. The qualification has a broad focus, rather than preparing you for one specific IT occupation.

The V Level is the size of one A-level and is designed to be studied alongside A-levels or other Level 3 qualifications.

Assessment will combine timetabled assessment (40%) with other forms of assessment (60%), reflecting the applied and practical nature of the qualification. Students will be assessed on their knowledge and understanding, their ability to apply what they have learned, and their ability to analyse, evaluate and make recommendations.
