Research skills sessions
The library is open daily from 8am to 4pm and is staffed by a professional librarian, who can assist students with their queries. We use the Heritage Library Management System. Students can borrow up to 6 items at a time and can renew/request their books online.
Research skill sessions are offered to all students in the Sixth Form, to help them acquire Information Literacy skills. The students work in teams to complete various activities, showing them how to locate relevant material, analyse and evaluate resources, reference material and create bibliographies for their coursework.
THE SETTING
Newman College is set in 17 beautiful acres of grounds. The heart of Brighton’s lively and cosmopolitan city centre is within walking distance. Here you can find a wonderful array of restaurants, theatres, pubs, clubs and entertainment. The centre of Hove is also nearby with a selection of shops, restaurants and facilities. The seafront runs alongside these areas and brings a welcome relief to students on a hot, sunny day. Our College is located beside major bus routes and is a 10-minute walk from Hove station. We also have facilities for bicycle storage.
